#LockdownLego

Winter lockdown December 2020 through to 2021 I set myself the seemingly overwhelming task of rebuilding all our old family Lego that had long been relugated to loft storage by adolescence and computers. There was a lot of it, randomly stashed in overflowing boxes; original packaging and most instructions sadly long gone. So began my voyage of discovery into the wonderful world of Bricklink, a huge database catalogue of every Lego brick, set and mini figure ever made, connecting Lego fans, owners and sellers worldwide.

My first project was Knights Kingdom II Mistlands Tower 8823 from 2009, subsequently sent to my nephew in Germany as a (very late post Brexit border) Christmas present.

I had not only rediscovered my childhood love of Lego and rekindled family memories  but was having to more intensively use my fingers than I had for years. Such tiny pieces to handle, line up and precisely snap together! Confidence boosted I continued my quest, quickly covering our floors with piles of bricks and loving the irony of our 21 year old youngest son complaining about having to step over them!

One year on, as the end of 2021 approaches, I am delighted to announce the launch of our #LockdownLego #ThinkHand MS Society ebay charity auction sale of all my completed Lego models.

I'm taking a bit of a flyer that there are enough people out there prepared to pay for some fantastic used Lego with 100% of the money raised going to the MS Society Stop MS campaign. All models assembled, photographed, listed, taken apart and packed with care. More importantly all ready to send to reach you in plenty of time before Christmas with no supply chain issues!

I'd love our Lego to go to new homes and be put to great use once again. I've spent a bit of money (mainly in postage) sourcing missing parts and instructions for some models. Instructions can all be found online but original copies add huge value to each set. Amazingly Lego is the one plastic toy to increase in value the longer you keep it! All my listed items are retired sets and mini figures from between circa1988 and 2009.

So what's in it for me? Apart from exercising my hands #ThinkHand I've had a huge amount of fun rebuilding everything (or occasionally going off piste and making up my own designs to use up old bricks) and have loved seeing our children's reactions on seeing their old models brought back to life. Each has chosen their personal favourites to keep as family heirlooms meanwhile we all have a great collection of photographs and reinforced family memories.

For too long MS clinical trials have focused on measuring how far and fast people can walk and there are therefore no licensed MS treatments for wheelchair users. The MS Society has recently helped to change this by part funding the world's first MS clinical trial, Chariot MS, here in the UK to measure hand function as the primary outcome. People living with advanced and progressive MS want researchers and regulators to wake up and pay attention!

Please support us by bidding generously in my #LockdownLego #ThinkHand MS Society charity auction.

I'm slightly nervous that we're all too polite and British to outbid other buyers and have therefore chosen higher starting prices than I normally would. With your generosity these auctions will hopefully raise over £1,000 for MS research.

Please note you are buying from our MS Society charity shop and your purchase is not eligible for Gift Aid. Be assured however  that gift aid will be claimed by Mr Annonie Mouse on the value of your Lego.

Apologies to international readers, I know Lego is hugely popular across Europe, the US and the whole world but due to postage costs I figured it best to restrict ebay to UK buyers. If there is a model anyone is keen to get your hands on, message me on ebay and I'll see what I can do.
